Summer is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who specializes in working with trauma survivors experiencing a wide variety of issues such as PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder. She is certified in the Ross Trauma Model. She had the privilege of working directly withhigh acuity clients in a hospital setting at UBH Denton, where she completed her internship as a student therapist on the trauma unit founded by Dr. Colin Ross. She also developed and implementeda comprehensive trauma curriculum as a therapeutic program manager at a therapy house for women. Summercounsels with an emphasis on attachment theory. She believes a safe relationship is the most important aspect of effective counseling, especially since a great deal of trauma occurs within the context of relationships. She also incorporates elements of person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy while relying on the foundation of the trauma model.
Along with counseling, Summer loves reading, creative writing, and spending time with her husband and her pet shrimp.
