Jovaria Baig, M.S., LPC, LCDC, Ph.D. Student

Jovaria’s passion for counseling derives from facing and overcoming her own struggles in life including assimilating her cultural identity, being bullied in junior high school and relationship issues. Jovaria is culturally diverse and unique which is important for diverse individuals from similar backgrounds. Jovaria is bilingual in English and Urdu – which is spoken in several South Asian countries. Jovaria has a passion to help others who are in pain, grief, depressed, or anxious and lift their spirits up knowing she really genuinely cares for them. She thrives to empower and encourage her clients to overcome those battles in life as she once did and gain the confidence to handle specific situations.

Jovaria’s Approach:
Jovaria has an interest in working with a diverse clientele ranging from children, adolescents to young adults dealing with depression, anxiety, test anxiety, Insomnia PTSD, ADHD, career counseling, domestic violence, suicidal ideation and multicultural issues. She enjoys utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Relaxation techniques to cope with stress and anxiety. She uses thematic imagery and breathing exercises with clients in order to help with relaxation. She also incorporates writing in a journal and/or keeping a diary of thoughts and emotions to aid with therapy.
Jovaria was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and considers herself to be a true ‘Texan gal.’ Jovaria enjoys spending time with her family and her pet Sammy who is a Siamese cat that is 2 years old. Jovaria loves going to lakes, being outdoors, and reading journal articles/books. Jovaria is currently getting her doctoral degree from Texas A&M University- Commerce and tries to utilize as much time as she can doing her research papers, conducting research studies, working on projects, presenting in conferences, completing proposals and taking tests. Jovaria has a passion for doing research and hopes to utilize her research with serving her clientele the best she can. Jovaria understands the importance of balance in work, family, and education/career.

Jovaria’s Specialty
Jovaria has worked with a variety of different clients. She provides individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy for men and women.  Her specialty includes:
            -Substance Abuse/Addiction issues                            -Career Counseling
            -Depression (suicidal ideation)                                   -Cultural Issues
            -Anxiety, (test anxiety, school anxiety, social anxiety) – Children/Adolescents
            -Domestic Violence issues                                           -Family Issues

​Jovaria’s Education:
Jovaria received her Masters of Science degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University- Commerce in 2015. She is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Texas A&M University- Commerce getting her Ph.D. in Counseling. Jovaria has her LPC license for the state of Texas and LCDC license for the state of Texas.
